Tips to help you socialise safely

Before heading out to your local beer garden or favourite restaurant, here are some top tips to protect you, your friends, family and those working in hospitality from Covid.

Plan ahead:

  • Minimise travel and use a direct route where possible.
  • Follow guidance on how to travel on public transport safely.
  • Have a plan B in case of overcrowding.
  • Make sure to pack:
    - A mask/face covering to wear in crowded areas such as public transport
    - Tickets, contactless payment card or pass
    - Hand sanitiser
    - Essential medicines
    - Tissues

Do not visit hospitality venues if you:

  • If you feel unwell and experience any symptoms (a cough, cold, high temperature, loss of smell or taste) please stay at home, as you would with any other illness, to help reduce the spread of the virus.

At hospitality venues:

  • Check in using the NHS COVID-19 app where you see official NHS COVID-19 QR code posters.
  • If soap and water aren’t available, use hand sanitiser (containing at least 60% alcohol).
  • Wear a mask/face covering to wear in crowded areasPay by contactless, if possible.
  • Order via app if promoted.
  • Minimise close contact with other people, where possible.
  • Be patient and follow the venue’s guidance.
  • Only touch surfaces where required. Do not lean on counters.
  • Treat hospitality staff with respect.
